Content Labels Explained

At Charity Today, transparency and trust are central to everything we do. To help our readers understand the nature of the content they’re engaging with, we clearly label each article based on how it was created and the relationship (if any) between the contributor and our platform.

Here’s what our labels (tags) mean:

Editorial Content

Description:
This content is produced or selected solely at the discretion of Charity Today’s editorial team. It is not paid for or influenced by any third party. The decision to publish is based entirely on news value, public interest, or relevance to the UK charity sector.

Example content types:

  • Independent news reports

  • Opinion pieces commissioned by Charity Today

  • Community interest stories not tied to membership or sponsorship

Label displayed:

Editorial Content
Published independently without payment or sponsorship.

Member-Contributed Content

Description:
This content is submitted by an individual or organisation that holds a paid membership with Charity Today. While the article itself has not been paid for, the contributor benefits from membership perks, such as priority editorial consideration, media support, or enhanced visibility.

This type of content allows Charity Today to spotlight stories from within its member community while maintaining editorial standards.

Example content types:

  • Press releases or blogs submitted by Charity Today members

  • Member case studies or charity updates

  • Member interviews arranged through their membership tier

Label displayed:

Member-Contributed Content
Submitted by a Charity Today member. While the content is not sponsored, the contributor benefits from membership privileges.

Promoted Partner Content

Description:
This content is created as part of a paid promotional partnership. It may include sponsored articles, advertorials, interviews, or features that have been produced in collaboration with a partner organisation and published as part of a commercial agreement.

These articles are written in an editorial style but should be considered marketing content.

Example content types:

  • Sponsored campaign features

  • Paid partner interviews

  • Advertorial-style articles about services or products

Label displayed:

Promoted Partner Content
Published in collaboration with a Charity Today partner as part of a paid promotional arrangement.

Why This Matters
