A Wetherby charity is offering free online tutorials to older people who need help taking part in this year’s census.
Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE) is offering the virtual sessions to help people complete the once-in-a-decade survey, which every household in the country must submit by 4 May.
The event will be hosted by an expert from Census 2021 and includes a short tutorial on the census process and an explanation on how to use the census website to complete the survey question by question. Participants can choose to complete their forms simultaneously or immediately afterwards if they prefer.
WiSE Chief Operating Officer Mark Dobson said:
“This year the government is really pushing for people to complete their census forms online. We know this can be a daunting challenge for some older people though, whilst many more will need a hand understanding how to accurately answer the questions the census asks.
“That’s where this free online session comes in, with an expert on hand to explain the process to our participants and allowing them to complete their form in real-time, asking questions as they go.”
Census 2021 officially takes place on Sunday 21 March – but people can submit their results before or after this date before the last day of submission on 4 May.
WiSE will host the session using the video meeting website Zoom on Tuesday 30 March at 12.30pm.
Over 60s who want to take part can book their free place by emailing Melody@w-ise.org.uk.
