VisionPK make a big move to Perth City Centre

Perth & Kinross impairment charity, VisionPK, is making a move to Perth High Street, offering its services to the area’s growing number of people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing.

The local charity, who have been at their premises in New Row since 2002, is looking forward to reaching many more people who may be struggling with their hearing or vision in their new, central location.

VisionPK will be taking over the premises previously occupied by GAP at 174 High Street – right next to Specsavers.

Gwenn McCreath, Chief Executive at VisionPK is excited by the move, she said:

“This is a positive step forward for the charity and we’re delighted to be able to bring our services and expertise to more people. We are also thrilled to be moving to the High Street – helping to revitalise the area with local services and resources.

“While our support team will still cover the whole of Perth & Kinross, undertaking home visits and hosting support groups, it’s great that we’ll have somewhere right in the centre of town where people can come and receive advice, information and support about their sensory impairment.”

While the move will be a big step, it’s not the only change the charity has in mind. Their long-term plan for the central premises is to create a sensory hub; a welcoming and inclusive space to learn more about specialist equipment, sensory conditions, and technology, join in activities and groups, receive advice and support or volunteer.

“We’re really excited to unveil our future plans and expand the range of services we offer.
Our mission as a charity has always been to continuously develop a wide range of high-
quality services for people with a sensory impairment in Perth & Kinross and I can’t wait to bring that to more people with our High Street location,” Gwenn added.

VisionPK will formally move into their new premises in the next week or two. While the building is being prepared, staff will continue to provide home visits and telephone support. The building will open to the public from 7th February. VisionPK can be contacted by phone at their existing telephone number, 01738 626 969.
