THE founder of a brand-new charity, Veteran’s Army, along with a whole lot of help from his friends, lifted a total of 312.5 tonnes on Armed Forces Day, raising over £3,000 in the process.
The total weight equalled that of a Challenger 2 Battle Tank, and fittingly, all the funds raised will go back into the veteran community and support former service personnel in establishing new careers after the military.
Ryan Yates, charity founder and former member of the British Army, said:
“We’re over the moon to have smashed the challenge and beaten our target. We can’t thank everyone enough for all the donations we’ve received. It will go such a long way in helping veterans in their post-service lives.
“This is only the start for Veteran’s Army. We are completely dedicated to helping as many people as we can, as we feel at the moment not enough is being done to help those who have sacrificed so much for us. We will be there for absolutely everyone who has served Queen and Country.”
The public can support by donating on their JustGiving page.
