HOSPICES across the UK are being encouraged to enter the UK Hospice of the Year Award at the National Charity Today Awards™, as nominations continue for this year’s awards programme.
The category recognises hospices that provide outstanding care, leadership and community impact, supporting patients, families and loved ones during some of the most difficult and emotional moments of their lives.
The award celebrates organisations that combine clinical care, dignity, compassion and innovation, while remaining deeply rooted in the communities they serve.
The current holders are The Mountbatten Group of Hospices, who enjoyed a remarkable double success at the 2025 National Charity Today Awards™ after being named both People’s Choice Award winner and UK Hospice of the Year Award winner.
Their achievement reflected not only the high regard in which their hospice care is held, but also the deep public admiration for their work. The Mountbatten Group of Hospices received outstanding backing in the public vote for the People’s Choice Award, underlining the powerful connection the organisation has built with those it supports and the wider community.
With nominations already open, the National Charity Today Awards™ is highlighting the UK Hospice of the Year Award as an opportunity for hospices throughout the country to share their stories, celebrate their teams and showcase the difference they are making every day.
Hospices play a vital role in the health and care landscape, offering specialist support that extends far beyond medical treatment. Their work can include pain management, emotional and practical guidance, family care, bereavement support, community outreach and help for people living with life-limiting or terminal conditions.
The UK Hospice of the Year Award is open to hospices of all sizes and settings, including adult hospices, children’s hospices and hospice groups.
Judges will be looking for evidence of excellence in care, meaningful community impact, strong leadership, innovation, and a clear commitment to putting patients and families at the heart of everything they do.
Lee Rayment, Founder of the National Charity Today Awards™, said:
“The UK Hospice of the Year Award is one of the most moving categories in our awards programme because it reflects the very best of human care, kindness and dignity.
“The Mountbatten Group of Hospices set a tremendous standard in 2025, not only by winning the UK Hospice of the Year Award, but also by securing the People’s Choice Award. That public support showed just how deeply their work is valued.
“As nominations continue, we want to shine a light on this important category and encourage hospices across the UK to come forward. These organisations and their teams deserve national recognition for the care, comfort and hope they bring to people when it matters most.”
The National Charity Today Awards™ celebrate excellence across the charity and voluntary sector, recognising the people, teams and organisations making a lasting difference in communities across the UK.
Hospices, supporters, staff, volunteers, patients’ families and members of the public are encouraged to nominate organisations they believe deserve to be recognised on the national stage.
To nominate a hospice, visit the official National Charity Today Awards™ nominations page at: nationalcharitytodayawards.co.uk/nominations and complete the online nomination form.
Those submitting a nomination should include clear examples of the hospice’s impact, the people it supports, the strength of its care, and why it deserves to be named UK Hospice of the Year.
