DAY Four of UK Charity Week is Volunteers’ Day.
Volunteers’ Day will focus on all things volunteering. We will be sharing some inspirational stories from 2020. We will also be publishing some snippets of guidance for would-be volunteers to read throughout the day on our social media, along with some best practice guidance for organisations looking to recruit new volunteers or to support their current ones.
Anyone can volunteer. It can be gratifying and is a great way to:
- meet new people
- gain new or use existing skills
- get experience
- make a big difference to your community
UK Charity Week Founder Lee Rayment said:
“Volunteers are the backbone of society, but unfortunately many are taken for granted; not respected or even valued to the extent they should be. We always hear people say, ‘we value our volunteers’, but how do you show it I would ask?”
He added, “Good volunteers are a rare commodity and days such as Volunteers Day should become a key date in any charity calendar to give back gratification to them.”
