Dr Amir Khan – TV doctor, author and NHS GP – has been appointed as the first ambassador for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice near Keighley.

Bradford-born Amir, who has been a GP in West Yorkshire for over a decade, first appeared on hit Channel 5 series GPs: Behind Closed Doors and is well-known for his regular appearances on ITV’s Lorraine and Good Morning Britain.

In 2020 he published his memoir, The Doctor Will See You Now: The highs and lows of my life as an NHS GP, which became a Sunday Times bestseller.

Speaking about his appointment, Amir said:

“Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is a very special place and I am honoured and proud to have been asked to be an ambassador. The hospice provides vital care and support to people in our local community and I look forward to helping raise awareness of the invaluable work they do.”

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice provides expert compassionate care, advice and support for people living in the Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven areas who are dealing with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families. It also offers community services for people who prefer to receive palliative care at home.
