Transparency International UK (TI-UK) is delighted to announce Daniel Bruce will head up TI-UK as the organisation’s new Chief Executive from October 2019.

With more than 10 years’ senior experience at an international NGO, a wealth of knowledge on global transparency issues and a unique perspective on how independent media can empower people around the world to hold their governments to account, Daniel will join TI-UK at a time when the fight against global corruption is more important than ever.

He will take the reins from Robert Barrington who has overseen TI-UK’s growth and development since 2008. As Chief Executive, Daniel will provide the strong leadership needed to take TI-UK’s national and global fight against corruption to a new level of sophistication and to ensure the long term sustainability of the organisation.

Daniel will join TI-UK from Internews where he currently serves as Chief Executive in Europe. After beginning his career in broadcast journalism, Daniel joined Internews in 2008 where his work to support press freedom and independent media development saw him leading complex country programmes in the wake of conflict and civil unrest in East Africa.

Transparency International UK’s appoints new Chief Executive
Daniel Bruce

Serving as Chief Executive for the past 5+ years, he has led the organisation to deliver high impact projects tackling corruption in Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union along with responses to the Gaza Strip conflict, West Africa Ebola outbreak and various other major disasters. Under his leadership, there has been a near three-fold increase in support from donors across Europe.

Daniel Bruce, incoming Chief Executive of Transparency International UK, said:

I have repeatedly witnessed first-hand the corrosive impact of corruption upon societies; whether in prolonging violent conflicts, limiting access to essential healthcare or in trapping people into grinding poverty – both in the UK and worldwide. I experienced this both in my early career as a journalist and in the last decade supporting media to create more transparent and open societies.

“It is, therefore, an immense privilege to have been appointed to lead the increasingly vital and much-respected work of Transparency International UK. I will bring a personal passion for the cause along with my practical experience of leading global organisations working on some of the most pressing issues of our time. I very much look forward to taking up my new post in October.”

Fiona Thompson, Chair of Transparency International UK’s Board of Trustees, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Daniel to this position. At a time when Transparency International’s mission is increasingly critical in so many areas of the world, not least the UK, the Board of Trustees has been searching for someone with the vision and leadership experience to address the corruption challenges facing us on the horizon. Daniel impressed us as the right person for the job and we look forward to drawing on his extensive experience to enhance the vital work of TI-UK.”
