Amber Dowding, star of the hit TV show The Only Way is Essex, has announced that she will be taking part in The MoonWalk London this Saturday, 13th May, helping to raise money for breast cancer charity, Walk the Walk.

The TV star is putting her party lifestyle on hold as she swaps stilettos for sneakers, joining more than 15,000 other people as they power walk a full or half Marathon through the night wearing decorated bras.

Walk the Walk is a cause close to Amber’s heart, after her mum, Maria, was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer. Amber is taking part in The MoonWalk with her mum, younger sister Hollie, and 36 other women who make up the ‘Golden Girls’ team.

Amber said: “It wasn’t easy to come to terms with my mum’s diagnosis, but she kept strong, and after going through chemotherapy the tumor has almost gone. Breast cancer has not only affected my mum, but other family members, friends and millions of other women around the world. I want to raise awareness of the importance of checking your breasts, and The MoonWalk is a fun way of doing this.”

She continued: “I’m taking my training really seriously, and have been going for walks in-between filming. I want to make everyone really proud! I’m urging all my fans to dig-deep, sponsor me and help raise vital funds to fight breast cancer.”

Amber is hoping to raise an impressive £800 for Walk the Walk, and has organised a number of fundraising events to help reach her target.

This year’s Roaring Twenties themed MoonWalk London is extra-special as it celebrates the 20th year of the iconic event.

Walk the Walk has now raised more than £116 million for breast cancer causes, making grants to organisations including; Breast Cancer Now, Penny Brohn UK, Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, Tenovus, The Haven, and The Christie Hospital.  Walk the Walk also has its own special project, providing funding to hospitals across the UK to purchase Scalp Cooling systems, special machines which help many people undergoing chemotherapy to retain their hair.
