Top tree planting charity chosen as partner for Climate Solutions Conference

LEADING tree planting organisation International Tree Foundation (ITF) has been selected as the charity partner for Oxfordshire Greentech’s Climate Solutions Conference on Wednesday 13th March 2024.

Held at Saïd Business School (Oxford) in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council and IP law experts Mewburn Ellis, the conference will address the critical need for immediate and collaborative climate action in Oxfordshire.

During the one-day conference, around 150 experts and representatives from prominent organisations will come together to share insights, case studies and strategies crucial for advancing climate-positive technologies and solutions. Speakers include David Ferguson, Head of Net Zero Innovation at EDF, and Dr Tiancun Xiao, founder of OxCCU, the rapidly growing startup with a circular sustainable aviation fuel.

The conference will also see 12 promising climate tech startups pitching to a panel of investment experts, bringing cutting-edge solutions across AI, water, zero-carbon housing, biochar, electric vehicles, energy, circular materials and more.

Pioneers of transformational community-led tree planting for over 100 years, ITF is well aligned with the conference’s mission to share knowledge, help green businesses thrive and inspire new connections and collaborations.

Commenting on the partnership, James Whitehead, ITF’s CEO, said:

“We are delighted to be the charity partner of the 2024 Climate Solutions Conference. As a leading community-led tree-planting organisation, we know the transformational impact of bringing people together to motivate change. This year’s line-up of inspirational speakers reflects Oxfordshire’s appetite for urgent climate action.”

Oxfordshire Greentech, the business network for a low-carbon future, has been convening the brightest minds and ideas and delivering climate solutions for the last five years. This conference aims to respond to UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ statement that we are now in an era of ‘global boiling,’ and accordingly, we need climate action on all fronts – ‘everything, everywhere, all at once.’

Oxfordshire Greentech’s CEO Hannah Scott said:

“We’re thrilled to partner with ITF, one of our network members, on this conference. ITF’s longstanding history in tree-planting and empowering communities around the globe is a great example of how Oxfordshire can be a leading light worldwide for climate solutions. Our partnership will powerfully bring together audiences interested in nature protection and
innovative technologies, and we’re looking forward to what will be a day full of insights and inspiration.”
