Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity) has welcomed three new members to its Board of Trustees.
Professor Sir Doug Turnbull, Karima Fahmy and Michael Wiseman bring with them a wealth of expertise key to supporting the charity’s purpose of transforming the lives of seriously ill children treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
With more than 20 years experience of working on all aspects of large-scale mixed-use development across the UK, Michael Wiseman has been appointed as Chair of the Property and Development Committee. He has been with British Land since 2011 where he has held several senior positions across the business including Development Director and his current role of Head of Office Leasing, leading on customer engagement. He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
“I am thrilled to head up the Property and Development Committee on the board of Trustees for such a prestigious charity. We are entering into an exciting new phase of redevelopment and I can’t wait to help deliver some key projects which will help transform the patient experience.”
Karima Fahmy, also joining the Property and Development Committee, is a corporate lawyer with over 20 years of experience advising on corporate finance transactions, governance and risk management. Previously General Counsel of Grosvenor Group, Karima also has broad real estate sector experience including the structuring, funding and delivery of real estate investment and development projects. Karima currently holds non-executive positions on the Board of Latimer Developments Limited, the Clarion Housing Group Investment Committee, the University of Cambridge’s Property Board and the University Board at Bournemouth University.

Professor Sir Doug Turnbull has been appointed as Chair of the Research Strategy Advisory Board. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Neurology at Newcastle University and was Director of the Wellcome Centre for Mitochondrial Research and Director MRC/BBSRC Centre for Ageing and Vitality until his retirement in 2020.

The trio join their 10 fellow Trustees, three Associate Trustees and one Independent Committee Trustee in providing governance and leadership to GOSH Charity as it moves forward with an ambitious five-year strategy and bold fundraising targets to match.

GOSH Charity raises money to support the hospital’s most urgent needs, including research into pioneering new treatments, cutting-edge medical equipment, support services for children and their families, such as parent accommodation and the hospital’s Play team, and the essential rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital.
