A pioneering adoption agency which helps some of the most vulnerable children and young people find families is celebrating after being judged ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED for the third time in a row.
Inspectors found that Adoptionplus, which is run in partnership with children’s charity Barnardo’s, ‘leads in many areas of adoption work in the UK’ and ‘succeeds in providing a centre of excellence for adoption services.’
Released on the 10th anniversary of the voluntary adoption agency, which finds adoptive families for children with highly complex needs, the report states that ‘service users reported the positive impact of the agency on their lives’ with one adopter saying that, ‘Adoptionplus has completely changed our lives for the better.’
The report also found that ‘managers are inspirational, committed and forward-thinking’ and that ‘staff are skilled, passionate and committed’ to improving the lives of the children, young people and families they support.
Joanne Alper, Director of Services at Adoptionplus, which is based in Milton Keynes, said:
“We are all absolutely delighted that the services we provide have again been rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
“Every single one of our staff without exception, are dedicated to the provision of services that are genuinely helpful and effective.
“It’s wonderful that this has been recognised in our recent inspection and even more pleasing was reading the comments children and parents made about our services.
“One of our parents told the inspector that they now felt their future was full of hope and joy, we couldn’t ask for more.”
Adoptionplus, which provides specialist placements and therapeutic support for the most vulnerable children and young people, has recently joined Barnardo’s. This partnership will help more vulnerable children find loving families in Milton Keynes and across the country.
Javed Khan, Chief Executive Officer at Barnardo’s, added:
“I’m delighted that Adoptionplus has retained its ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted.
“Adoptionplus joined the Barnardo’s family last year and with our support, it has been able to continue its vital work with adopted children and their new parents.”
