The Sleep Charity creates new role to lead strategic delivery of services

THE Sleep Charity has appointed Brian Marshall to the newly created role of head of sleep support.

Marshall will be tasked with leading the development and delivery of the organisation’s evidence-based sleep services, including sleep clinics for families of children with complex sleep issues and workshops and training for professionals.

He will work in direct collaboration with the charity’s Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and funders to monitor and measure the impact of the services being provided.

Marshall is an experienced manager who has worked for a number of years in the health and pharmaceuticals industry. He is Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biomedical Sciences and Health.

He joins The Sleep Charity from his role as a medical laboratory technician with the NHS.

Marshall said:

“I’m really looking forward to joining the team and being a part of the outstanding work that The Sleep Charity delivers.

“As head of sleep support, I am relishing engaging with our in-house experts, board members and other stakeholders to deliver the best possible service to our users.”

The Sleep Charity has also appointed Stacey Fairclough and Jean Brown to sleep practitioner roles.

The charity’s sleep practitioners support families, children and young people and ensure excellence in the delivery of the organisation’s evidence-based sleep services.

Fairclough will work in the charity’s Doncaster and Bassetlaw services sector, funded by the local CCG, while Brown will cover the newly established service operating through Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The Sleep Charity has also appointed Joanne Jenkinson to the role of administration officer as part of a structure designed to underpin recent growth.

Incorporating The Sleep Council, The Sleep Charity is a national, award-winning charity empowering the nation to sleep better.

The Sleep Charity deputy CEO Lisa Artis said:

“We’re delighted to be creating a new role to lead the delivery of our service proposition, and Brian is the perfect appointment.

“His background in health and pharmaceuticals will prove invaluable to our organisation, and his experience in management and service delivery will provide a major boost to our ambition of engaging with more people than ever before.”

As part of its recent growth, The Sleep Charity has launched a new online platform to promote its Teen Sleep Hub service.

The Hub provides a wealth of advice and resources for teens struggling to sleep, as well as support for teachers, parents and carers. Please visit their website for more information: www.teensleephub.org.uk.
