The Fire Fighters Charity opens family space at its Devon centre

THE Fire Fighters Charity has opened a new family zone at its Devon-based centre, Harcombe House, as part of the ongoing development of its vital health and wellbeing services.

The Charity supports serving and retired fire and rescue service personnel, their dependants and other eligible members of the UK fire services community, throughout their lives, helping them to live happier and healthier.

Furze Cottage will now offer a welcoming space for adults and dependants alike, with activities, toys and games to suit every age group.

While one room is fully equipped with everything from an Xbox to a TV and music streaming system for teenagers, the main room has a reading corner with books, games and puzzles, a table and chairs for children to draw or build Lego and various toys for different age groups.

Adults, meanwhile, can sit and enjoy a hot drink together and chat with others who are visiting from across the UK’s fire services community.

Carrie Pearce, The Fire Fighters Charity’s Welfare Services Lead, said:

“This is open for any families that are staying with us on-site, but particularly those that are coming for rest and recharge breaks to give them that space to come and relax and connect with others.”

The Charity’s rest and recharge stays provide individuals with the space and opportunity to unwind, relax and reflect on their well-being. The tranquil and peaceful surroundings at Harcombe House provide the perfect setting for recovery, building resilience and finding those initial steps to help you move forward.

With The Fire Fighters Charity relying almost entirely on donations to fund its vital work, none of the support it offers its beneficiaries would be possible without the generosity of its supporters. You can support members of the UK’s fire services community, by donating now at:
