The cost-of-living crisis is affecting many people – and their beloved animals

Colin was suffering from depression, sleeping in his van following the breakdown of his marriage, and struggling to afford to feed himself, let alone his cats.

Colin said: “All of a sudden everything shot up… I shop with a budget and have to recalculate what I should put back on the shelf. People might think if you get rid of the cats…. but that’s just not an option.”

Care packages from our member Mayhew provided Colin with cat food, blankets and other essential supplies, and thankfully he is now settled in a new flat – with Max and Molly.

These are tough times, and all Together for Animals member charities are seeing an increase in the demand for their services, whether that be free veterinary care, or rehoming an animal that has been abandoned, or when sadly the owner can no longer care for them.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic continues to have devastating consequences for working animals in developing countries around the world. Lockdowns and restrictions on movement left many people with no work or income, and owners have been struggling to feed or care for their animals.

This winter will, no doubt, be the hardest we’ve faced for a long time. Under these challenging circumstances cats, dogs, donkeys and horses still need urgent help.

Our members are offering a vital lifeline to animals whose owners are struggling. Your support will provide much-needed supplies for vulnerable animals.
