#UKCharityWeek Official Partner, The Civil Service Retirement Fellowship has remained open throughout the year and faced the challenges of COVID-19 by adapting their services accordingly.
The Civil Service Retirement Fellowship (CSRF) is a national charity dedicated to helping former civil servants and their dependents make the most of their retirement. The organisation was founded in 1965 and is a Cabinet Office Trusted Partner and Civil Service Welfare Body. Through their three national services (local community groups, befriending schemes and signposting & advice) they provide friendship and support to ensure a better quality of life for those in later life.
Lily Roubians, Marketing & Communications Officer for CSRF said:
“We are proud to be an official charity partner for this year’s UK Charity Week as with all the challenges people have faced due to COVID-19 the need for connections, friendship and support has remained as important as ever. We know what a difference it makes to see other people stepping up in challenging times and showing kindness and compassion and hope that the way the issue of loneliness has been highlighted this year will encourage people to recognize the impact loneliness has on older people in our communities and how much of a difference it makes when you support charities like ours.
“Throughout the year, we have been maintained contact with our beneficiaries using both digital and printed resources. Our regular e-newsletters, that encompass a referral to each of our services and a weekly round-up of all the fun activities and events that they can take part in online from all over the world, have proved very popular. Despite being stuck at home, our beneficiaries still feel a part of a community and have access to that sense of togetherness that the younger generation has easier access to on social media.
“Whether you are older or younger, we all need someone to talk to and with your support this UK Charity Week we can add our voice to helping to fight and fix the issue of loneliness. Our services are needed more than ever as that essential line of friendship can make all the difference in these times of self-isolation and social distancing – and so can you.”
