TEAMS across Yorkshire and beyond are being urged to sign up now for the highly anticipated Charity Dragon Boat Race 2026, hosted by The Principle Trust Children’s Charity.
Taking place on Sunday, 10th of May at The Coniston Hotel Country Estate and Spa, the event promises a full day of adrenaline-fuelled racing, team spirit, and fundraising for good causes. With demand expected to be high and places limited, organisers are encouraging businesses, community groups, and friends to secure their spot early.
The Dragon Boat Race brings teams together to compete in a series of fast-paced, head-to-head races on the hotel’s private lake. Each crew of ten paddlers and a drummer will work in sync to power their boat to victory. No previous experience is required, so anyone can join in on the fun.
Participants can choose to raise funds for The Principle Trust Children’s Charity or support a cause close to their own hearts. The event is designed to be both inclusive and exciting, offering a unique team-building experience alongside a meaningful fundraising opportunity.

Since its launch in 2011 by founder Mike Davies MBE, The Principle Trust Children’s Charity has provided respite breaks for almost 6,000 children from across the region through its respite homes in Blackpool, Filey, and the Lake District. The charity now owns eight respite homes, enabling it to support around 308 families each year, giving children facing adversity – including mental health challenges, trauma, abuse, poverty, serious illness, and disabilities – the chance to enjoy life-changing breaks away from their daily struggles.
