An Everton Season Ticket Member renowned for his passionate goal celebrations got to line up with his football heroes by playing a starring role in the Club’s annual team photo day.
Danny, 28, who has Down Syndrome, took his seat next to manager Marco Silva and captain Phil Jagielka for a once-in-a-lifetime photo with the Blues’ first-team squad before later joining in a training session with David Unsworth and the Club’s Under-23s.
A Goodison Park Season Ticket Member since the age of four, Danny’s VIP experience, courtesy of Club partner USM, began when he was joined for breakfast by Everton legend and current first-team coach Duncan Ferguson.
He then rallied the players for their annual squad snap, before having his own player headshot and joining in a warm-up kickabout with England international Michael Keane, Dutch 2010 World Cup finalist Maarten Stekelenburg and Academy graduate Kieran Dowell.
After watching Silva prepare his first-team group for Saturday’s Premier League visit of Fulham, Danny dined with Unsworth and the Club’s Under-23s before taking a full tour of Everton’s state-of-the-art training facility and joining in a series of drills with Unsworth and his squad.
Reflecting on Danny’s surprise treat, his dad Paul said: “It was one of the best days we have experienced as a family ever.
“Daniel couldn’t have been looked after any better if he had been royalty, which I think he thought he was.
“He lives and breathes Everton – his life revolves around it and he wouldn’t miss a game for anything.
“He thrives off being in the Park End, where he’s got plenty of room to run up and down when we score goals, and people do recognise him everywhere we go.
“He has always wanted to come to USM Finch Farm and I don’t think he or we will ever forget it.”
