Strode Park Foundation: Festive Fundraising

It’s that time of year again and as everyone’s thoughts turn to all things festive, we at Strode Park Foundation have a very busy few weeks ahead of us with a calendar full of events and fundraising activity.

We’re certainly not strangers when it comes to Christmas events. We’ve been putting on a successful Christmas Fayre for a number of years now and you’ll often find us with a collection pot at the local supermarkets. However, this year we’ve really been bitten by the festive bug and have not only decided to make our Christmas Fayre bigger and better than before, but we are also holding a number of exciting events at various locations over the next few weeks.

First up is our Christmas Fayre, ‘Christmas in the Park’ on 30 November which this year we are running for a whole day as well as putting on a full programme of live music in our Theatre in the Park amphitheatre (which will include local choirs and musicians) and also a larger variety of stalls to browse.

We are also holding a couple of events at our Platters Farm Lodge site in Rainham with a Christmas Fayre on 14 December along with ‘Lonely at Christmas’, a festive meal with gifts for the lonely and isolated in the community, on 22 December.

We’ll be out in the local community on a number of occasions taking part in the Birchington Christmas Fair on 8 December and packing bags and collecting donations at supermarkets. This is always a great opportunity, not just to raise money but also to create awareness of what we do as a charity.

Fundraising has stepped up a gear with Christmas cards on sale at Strode Park House and our charity shops along with the sale of our wonderful 2020 calendars (produced as a result of an art competition which we ran with our service users in October). We’ve also created a special video to be launched as part of our Christmas Appeal on 3 December and are really excited to share this with everyone.

We are also running our ‘Deck the Walls’ office decorating competition, a Christmas Jumper Day and staff festive event on 18 December and The Widows Sons East Kent Bikers Association are organising a toy run for the children at our Footprints children’s home on 1 December.

Strode Park Foundation: Festive Fundraising

On top of everything else, it is UK Charity Week 2 – 8 December so please keep an eye on our social media for our updates on everything else we are doing!

Whilst it’s safe to say the Fundraising Team will definitely be appreciating the Christmas break, the benefit of holding such a variety of events at a time when seasonal goodwill is running high can certainly not be underestimated. We are very much looking forward to a record season of fundraising and being able to get 2020 off to a fantastic start for the people with disabilities that we support.
