WALES’ leading first aid charity, St John Ambulance Cymru, has announced the appointment of Benjamin Savage as their new Chief Operating Officer, effective from June 2021.
Benjamin joins the charity having previously held the role of Head of Planning and Programmes for Event Planning at St John Ambulance in England.
The role, which is a new position within the senior management team at the charity, will see Benjamin managing the development and delivery of services within a newly integrated operational department, incorporating Healthcare, Training, and Community services, as well as volunteer-delivered activity.
Having led and implemented major improvement programmes in his previous role, as well as working and volunteering on the front line across the pandemic, Benjamin’s passion for patient care and enhancing community services is prominent throughout his career.
St John Ambulance Cymru, Chief Executive Officer, Helen Smith said:
“Following a highly competitive selection process, we’re pleased to welcome Ben to St John Ambulance Cymru.
“We’re looking forward to working with him and for him to bring his experience, passion and vision to the development of our modernisation and operational strategic directions. ”
“I’m humbled and proud to be appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer for St John Ambulance Cymru.
“I look forward to putting my experience to good use and working together with teams across Wales to develop and improve services.”
The announcement follows the recent implementation of a new leadership structure within the charity, including the appointment of the Director of People and Organisational Development, Andy Jones and their new Director of Finance and Corporate Services, Darren Pritchard.
