Sports charity partners with ‘Charitable Travel’ to allow holiday makers to make a difference

WITH lockdown restrictions easing and thousands of people looking to make the most of the remaining summer days, national charity The Mintridge Foundation has partnered with Charitable Travel to allow holiday seekers the opportunity to give back when they book their next break.

Charitable Travel is a recognised social enterprise and travel agency, offering both staycation breaks in the UK plus holidays abroad. When customers book any holiday through Charitable Travel, the travel agency commission is sacrificed and a free five per cent donation is given to a charity of the customer’s choice, in which Northampton-based The Mintridge Foundation have recently signed up to.

Since lockdown has eased, more people are considering a staycation in 2020. In fact, it is estimated that a whopping 20 million Brits are planning to holiday at home this year. These holidaymakers could all make a huge difference to charities just by changing their way of booking.

Melissa Tilling, Chief Executive Officer of Charitable Travel said:

“Like many industries, including travel, charities have unfortunately felt the wrath of COVID-19 and many have sadly seen a decline in donations. A simple, easy and quick way to give back to charities that need your help more than ever is when you book your next holiday. Here at Charitable Travel, we can help you find your perfect break, whilst also giving you the opportunity to help a chosen charity free of charge. We are delighted to have The Mintridge Foundation now on board and added to our list of charities customers can donate to, it is a fantastic charity that really does positively change the lives of young people across the UK.

“25% of our current travel deals are staycations in this country, but we also have a lot of opportunities for abroad travel for 2020 and beyond. For people thinking of booking an upcoming trip, I’d really encourage them to take a look at our website and give back to their chosen charity at the same time.”

The partnership between The Mintridge Foundation and Charitable Travel does not stop there, the travel agency has also been hosting online wellness and health sessions three times a week for a £10 donation to The Mintridge Foundation. The #WeekdayWellness sessions align to Mintridge Foundation’s values of helping people feel good through the power of sport and are run by professional personal trainer and nutritional therapist, Jenny Tomei. The sessions, which will be continuing until at least the end of September and still have spaces available, include full-body workout classes and diet, nutrition, and wellness tips. Mintridge sporting ambassador and Paralympian Laura Sugar joined previously to talk about her career and to give advice and Marilyn Okoro is also scheduled to participate. The sessions have already proven popular, and there is a group of regulars who attend at least twice a week. You can find out more or sign up by visiting: https://charitable.travel/weekday-wellness/

Alex Wallace, Founder and Managing Director of The Mintridge Foundation said:

“This is just one of many CSR partnerships we are part of but something I feel really passionate that more people should know about. Many of us book well-deserved holidays every year, but if we all look to change our booking behaviour and book a selection of our trips through Charitable Travel we are giving back and supporting others at the same time as treating ourselves.

“We are also extremely grateful for the hosted Charitable Travel Weekday Wellness sessions which are helping to raise vital funds to allow us to be able to support and mentor more young people across the country. Without all of our corporate partners’ valued support, we wouldn’t be able to reach the number of young people that we do.”

Alongside the partnership with Charitable Travel, The Mintridge Foundation have also joined with numerous other businesses to allow customers to easily donate to the charity.
