THIS Christmas we’re delighted to be teaming up with two professional singers to offer one-off ‘songs for shielding’ – a simple yet so special personalised gift to send to loved ones this Christmas. In return for a donation – big or small – the wonderful Aidan Edwards and Juliet Montgomery, trained baritone and soprano respectively, will record your song and send it back for you to gift to that special person in your life.
More used to performing at venues like the Edinburgh Festival and the Notre Dame in Paris, Aidan and Juliet will attune their vocal chords to perform anything from Disney favourites to current chart hits. Requests so far have ranged from Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ to the quirky ‘I want a hippopotamus for Christmas.’ (Who doesn’t?!) Nothing is off-limits!
Speaking about the fundraiser, Skiggle’s Charity Development Manager, Helen Taylor, said:
“Disability or not, music is such a huge part of everyone’s world, and we’ve seen first-hand how it can brighten someone’s day. If people decide to send someone a song instead of a card this Christmas – not only will it cut down on paper – it’s so much more personal and it’s a unique performance from two extremely talented singers to keep forever. We want to help bring a smile to the faces of family or friends who have spent much of the year shielding or perhaps those just feeling a bit lonely this Christmas.”
Here is Juliet’s version of Hallelujah:
Skiggle comes to the aid of people within the disability community with its unique 24/7 SOS alert service as well as facilitating an online marketplace where people across the UK can safely donate and distribute specialist care products and equipment. In 2020, demand for Skiggle’s services has risen by more than 40 per cent and all funds raised will go directly back into the growing daily cost of funding of the charity and developing the range of services offered.
