Leading cancer charity, Penny Brohn UK, has announced the appointment of Stephen Rosser as its new Chair of the Board of Trustees. Stephen’s appointment will take effect this summer when Francesca Barnes steps down as Chair after 12 years in the role.
Stephen is CEO of Clark Willmott LLP, a national law firm headquartered in the centre of Bristol. He has been involved in a number of key regeneration projects in the South West across both the public and private sectors. Having lived in Bristol for 20 years, Stephen knew what great work Penny Brohn UK did and became actively involved when he ran the London Marathon in aid of the charity. Stephen joined the Board of Trustees in 2012 and was appointed Vice Chair in 2015.
Francesca has led the Board of Trustees of Penny Brohn UK through times of significant evolution. Penny Brohn UK now supports over 13,000 clients; research evidence shows that 70% of clients have a clinically significant improvement in their main cancer concern; exceptional partnerships have been developed with key cancer players such as Walk the Walk, GenesisCare, Macmillan, BHOC and others and the charity has generated a financial surplus for the last few years.
Francesca Barnes said:
“It has been my very great privilege to be a part of this extraordinary charity. I am so proud of what Penny Brohn UK has done to help thousands of people live well with cancer and to promote the integrated Bristol Whole Life Approach. As we approach our 40th year the need for what we do, and the opportunity to make a real difference, is ever greater. I wish Penny Brohn UK all the very best of luck and love for its next 40 years.”
