New store unveiled in Brownhills

A charity shop to raise funds for people living with a terminal illness and their families has opened on Brownhills High Street.

The John Taylor Hospice store has now opened for business and marked the occasion by throwing a special celebration event attended by local communities, hospice staff, volunteers and dignitaries including Aldridge-Brownhills MP Wendy Morton.

Visitors to the store will be able to bag an array of high-quality items at bargain prices including clothing, accessories, books, DVDs, CDs and household items. All proceeds raised from sales will support John Taylor Hospice to continue providing care for families across the West Midlands.

Cutting the ribbon at the opening event was hospice nurse Deb Jones, she said:

“The opening of our new shop is very significant to me, not only am I extremely honoured to work for John Taylor Hospice, I am proud to live in Brownhills, so I’m delighted to see our network of shops continue to grow and for our store to be the latest addition to my local High Street.

“Today, and every day, more than 600 people across the West Midlands will receive the care they need from John Taylor Hospice teams. I really hope that local people get behind our new store as the money raised from our shops makes a huge difference to our charity. Shoppers, people who donate items and retail volunteers all help us to raise much-needed funds that ensure everyone receives the best possible care at home or in our hospice.”

John Taylor Hospice Head of Retail Andrew Ray said:

“We’re delighted to join the business community in Brownhills. Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome and for all the donations we’ve received so far – please do keep them coming! Our presence on the High Street will not only help to fund our vital services but will raise awareness of the work John Taylor Hospice does every day across the region.”

The new shop, situated at 30 High Street, will be open Monday to Saturday between 8:30am and 4:30pm and donations would be gratefully received.
