NATIONAL charity Revitalise has announced that thanks to a generous donation of £300,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation, they are now able to provide any necessary funding to ensure disabled people can receive their required care support and stay safe at the Revitalise Sandpipers Centre in Merseyside. A new video released by the charity shows some of the facilities available at the centre.
General Manager at Revitalise Sandpipers Darren Holloran said:
“Our Revitalise Sandpipers centre is a great place to come and feel safe during the crisis. We would like to thank the Garfield Weston Foundation for enabling us to provide disabled people with the level of funding needed and we look forward to welcoming them to Revitalise.”
The funding comes as a new report released from Carers UK shows the effect of the Coronavirus on people caring for those with disabilities. The survey of over 5,000 current and former carers revealed that 70% of unpaid carers are providing more care due to the coronavirus outbreak and over a third are providing more care as a result of local services reducing or closing.
The report also revealed that 87% of carers are ‘worried about what will happen to the people I care for if I have to self-isolate or become ill.’ Anybody worried about whether their care support at home can continue or are caring for a loved one should contact Revitalise, who are able to offer long or short stays with full care support in place. The charity is also offering transportation to those that need it from all around the country.
The Revitalise team is offering its facilities for disabled people no longer able to get the care they need at home. Revitalise Sandpipers has been fully refurbished and is fully accessible, with equipment including hoists, profiling beds and airflow mattresses. The teams are comprised of Registered Nurses and Care Assistants and they are rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.
Revitalise Netley Waterside House in Hampshire and Revitalise Jubilee Lodge in Essex are providing all their spaces to the NHS to help free up hospital beds for people with the virus.
