Leading holiday charity, the Family Holiday Association, has announced the appointment of Kat Lee as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Kat is joining from Girlguiding, the UK’s largest charity for girls and young women. As Head of Youth Programmes she has spent the last six years leading the successful transformation of the organisation’s youth offer. With a wealth of experience in service delivery, strategy and impact, Kat has involved more than 50,000 girls and young women in the biggest overhaul in the charity’s 100-year history.
Announcing Kat’s appointment, Philippa Harris, Chair of Trustees for the Family Holiday Association said:
“The Family Holiday Association has supported families for over 40 years. In that time the value of breaks has become well recognised and they are now regarded as a necessity by most. We believe we should now step up our activities to respond to the challenging circumstances families are facing and help even more of them over the coming years.
“We are delighted that Kat has agreed to join us to drive that change for the future. Her experience supporting girls to achieve at Girlguiding coupled with her energy and outlook reflects our ambition for the future of the Family Holiday Association.”
Reflecting on her new role, Kat said:
“I am delighted to be joining The Family Holiday Association as CEO. The charity has a proud history of supporting the families who need it most to take a break, connect with one another and make memories they can treasure forever. I am looking forward to working with staff and partners to enable many more families to step away from the challenges of daily life and have fun together on a much-needed break.”
Before Girlguiding, Kat was at the Houses of Parliament where she led on extending the reach of its public engagement activities with schools and enabling more than twice as many young people to experience a visit to their Parliament. Her early career was spent working with families in public programming roles.
Kat is passionate about social justice and equality of opportunity and spent 8 years as a governor of a south London primary school. She is currently a trustee of the charity Westminster Befriend a Family which works to support all families in the borough to lead fulfilling lives, free from the consequences of poverty.
Kat Lee will take over as CEO at the Family Holiday Association on 6 January 2020.
