CHAMPIONING Social Care and OpenScore launched a refreshed interactive Care Home Open Week map at Care Show London at ExCeL on Wednesday 29 April, unveiling a new partnership aimed at making it easier for people to find and engage with participating care homes.
OpenScore, developed by the team behind Autumna, is the UK’s first live, continually updated view of care home quality. Its national map provided a natural platform for the Care Home Open Week map, enabling users to easily locate participating homes and nearby events.
The updated map is built on a long-standing feature of Care Home Open Week, with improved functionality allowing users to search by postcode or town. It then displayed participating homes in the area, along with details of events being hosted. Listings included event names, dates, times and contact details, with address information and an ‘Add to Calendar’ feature designed to help visitors plan ahead.
The map was designed to be accurate and user-friendly, with registration data matched to Autumna’s directory and optimised for both desktop and mobile use. It was showcased live on the Championing Social Care stand at the event, where visitors were able to see its functionality in action.
The partnership reflected a shared commitment to increasing visibility and accessibility for Care Home Open Week, providing a more effective digital platform for people to discover local activity.
Care Home Open Week 2026 is set to take place from 15–21 June, with a World Cup football theme encouraging inclusive, football-inspired activities to bring residents, staff, families and communities together. At the time of launch, more than 900 care homes had already registered, with organisers continuing to encourage further sign-ups.
Debbie Harris, founder of Autumna and OpenScore, said:
“Autumna and OpenScore are focused on helping families make informed choices about later-life care, so partnering with Championing Social Care on this year’s map was a natural fit. The refreshed version has made it much easier for people to search locally and plan visits, and we are proud to support a campaign that highlights the incredible work of the sector.”
Mitesh Dhanak, board member of Championing Social Care, said:
“Care Home Open Week is about opening doors, building trust and showcasing the heart of social care. This new map strengthened our ability to connect communities with care homes and provided another valuable tool to support engagement across the sector.”
