National Assistance Dog charity recruits new CEO to take forward its life-changing work

ASSISTANCE Dog charity, Dog A.I.D. has recruited a new Chief Executive Officer to lead its UK-wide work enabling physically Disabled people to train their own pet dog to become an Assistance Dog.

Belinda (Bee) Johnson took up her new role at Dog A.I.D. on 16th October 2023. Bee has a decade of experience in the charity sector with previous roles working in mental health, higher education and homelessness. She comes to Dog A.I.D. from the national homelessness charity, Shelter, where she was a member of the Organisational Planning and Performance Team.

Bee has a strong background in charity strategic planning and fundraising and in her role as a project manager with capacity-building charity Pilotlight, worked with a wide variety of charities across the UK supporting them to increase their reach, income and impact. She has previously worked alongside Dog A.I.D. in a voluntary capacity.

Bee said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to be taking up the role of Chief Executive with Dog A.I.D. It’s a charity extremely close to my heart and I am inspired daily by the life-changing work that it delivers in enabling physically Disabled people to train their pet dog to become an Assistance Dog. I am looking forward to meeting clients, our volunteer trainers and our community partners over the coming weeks, as well as working alongside our amazing staff team in the delivery of Dog A.I.D.’s new 3-year strategy.”

Paul Miles, Dog A.I.D.’s Chair of Trustees said:

Dog A.I.D.’s new strategy will focus on the recruitment of volunteer dog trainers across the U.K. and the growth of income to enable the charity to meet the huge demand from prospective clients for its services.
