Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire donates winter fuel payment to charity

The Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire has pledged his support to the Hertfordshire Surviving Winter appeal by donating his winter fuel payment.

Mr Robert Voss CBE is backing the appeal, which aims to raise money to help older and vulnerable people at risk in Hertfordshire this winter.

Hertfordshire Community Foundation is now encouraging others who can afford it, to donate their winter fuel allowance from the government to help Hertfordshire’s most vulnerable residents to stay warm, safe and well.

Mr Voss said:

“My wife and I are pleased to support this appeal, especially at this time of crisis. I hope my endorsement will encourage more people to donate to the appeal and support residents that are isolated and vulnerable.”

Money raised from the appeal will be used to provide grants to cover fuel and food costs, activities to reduce loneliness and isolation and to help those in need to access specialist services and community groups.

Helen Gray, Foundation Director for Hertfordshire Community Foundation said:

“I am delighted that Robert, HCF’s President, is supporting the appeal. We appreciate that 2020 has been a tough year for many but we hope that his support will inspire other local people, who are in the position to do so, to help those struggling this winter.”
