To celebrate turning 10 years old, Lily McBride from Balloch has taken on a walking challenge to raise money for Erskine Veterans.
Lily will walk 10km every day for 10 days prior to her 10th Birthday on 7th June. After which she can enjoy her birthday, as much cake as she wants and a well-earned rest.
Lily, who is in Primary 5 at Balloch Primary, chose to fundraise for Erskine as her dad Andrew is a former serviceman, and the family knew a friend who last year passed away in an Erskine Home.
Erskine Community Fundraiser Colin McPhail said:
“It is wonderful that Lily has come up with this unique challenge, and we are incredibly impressed with her kindness and thoughtfulness. Our residents will be so touched to learn that Lily is walking every day to raise money for them, and we are all cheering her on all the way. At Erskine, we need to raise over 10 million pounds annually, so the support of community fundraisers like Lily is really important to our vital work caring for Veterans.”
