BROGDALE Collections, based in Faversham, is a charity responsible for managing the public’s access to and engagement with the National Fruit Collections at Brogdale Farm. It is the world’s largest collection of temperate fruits and a significant Heritage visitor attraction for Kent. Brogdale Collections is a popular and busy charity organising a range of activities including festivals and events, guided tours, education visits, courses, fruit tastings and sales.
Tony Hillier, the Charity’s Vice Chair, said:
“The National Fruit Collection at Brogdale is funded by Defra and curated by the University of Reading. Funding is only for the maintenance and research of the Collection on a scientific basis. Without Brogdale Collections Charity, the Collections would be on a closed site with no public access or engagement
“Not only is Brogdale Collections an important charity, but it is also a friendly and welcoming one. The board of trustees is responsible for managing a small team of first-class officers who are supported by a fabulous team of volunteers. I am confident that whoever takes on the role will find it extremely enjoyable and rewarding.”
