WHEN the COVID-19 pandemic first emerged, at Smile Train we learnt to adapt to a ‘new normal’ – adding a virtual twist to how we communicate with one another, and to how we operate.
Determined not to let the second national lockdown dampen our Christmas spirits, we have decided to embrace our new ‘cyber-style’ once more, by taking our annual Christmas Carol Concert virtual!
To kick off the much anticipated festive season, on Tuesday 1st December at 7.30pm we will be launching an hour-long concert online, where families and friends can tune into for free via our website: smiletrain.org.uk/carols.
Filmed at the iconic Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair, London (which some may recognise from the popular Christmas classic, Love Actually), the concert will feature festive performances from the Choir of the Grosvenor Chapel.
Carols will be interspersed with inspiring stories from our charity’s beneficiaries and Ambassadors, and hymns from four of our patient choirs in Brazil, Chile and Colombia.
Viewers will also be treated to a percussion ensemble performance from BBC Young Musician of the Year percussion finalist and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, Toril Azzalini-Machecler, from Chineke! Junior Orchestra.
The concert is free to watch, but any online donations raised on the night will be donated to Smile Train to continue their work of supporting free cleft surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children in need globally.
So, if you’re partial to a carol or two, please cosy up with your loved ones, pour yourself a steaming mug of hot chocolate, and tune into our virtual Christmas carol concert on the 1st to enjoy some Christmas hymns and help change the world one smile at a time.
Don’t forget to share a photo of yourself watching the concert on social media using the hashtag #SmileTrainCarolConcert, and tagging @SmileTrainUK, so that we know you have joined us!
The Smile Train Christmas Carol Concert will take place on 1st December 2020 at 7:30pm.
