Arts Insight has announced that Katie Posner, an award-winning theatre director has joined the UK charity as a patron.
Posner is the newly appointed joint artistic director of Paines Plough. Previously associate director for Pilot Theatre and has worked extensively for York Theatre Royal.
On her appointment, Katie said:
“I have always admired the work that Laura (Artistic Director of Arts Insight) does with children and I am delighted to be joining the charity as a patron. The work they do is absolutely essential in teaching skills that young people can use beyond the classroom and throughout their lives. I look forward to supporting the great work that Arts Insight is doing across the UK in my new role as patron.”
Arts Insight is a national charity that works with schools to teach children essential life skills through drama, music and the arts.
Laura Berridge, Artistic Director of Arts Insight added:
“We are thrilled and honoured that Katie has joined the charity as our first patron. Her passion for theatre and keeping the arts in schools certainly matches our own, so this is a very exciting development for Arts Insight.”
With fewer drama, music, art and design teachers than ever before, Arts Insight is continually working to bridge the gap within the education system and provide this essential provision to as many schools across the UK as possible.
The charity partners with schools nationally and in areas of high need to help children develop fundamental life skills through specially developed theatre workshops, which positively impact on their lives now and in the future.
