Join the ‘Hike Against Loneliness’ for Age UK H&W in the Malvern Hills

AGE UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire (H&W) are challenging you to the ‘Hike Against Loneliness’ across the spectacular Malvern Hills. The challenge, which is being organised in conjunction with Elite Adventures, aims to raise money in aid of Age UK H&W and help them in their mission to combat loneliness and boost wellbeing in our older community.

Those up for the challenge will have a choice of undertaking two different options – walking the hills end to end or stepping it up a notch and walking the whole trail before turning around and walking all the way back.

The two different options cover 9 and 18 miles respectively, and while being tough, will offer those undertaking the challenge the chance to witness some spectacular views across the Malvern Ridge. There are several different sign-up options available, and you can register as an individual or with a team.

The charity has announced this event during National Walking Month to give all fundraisers adequate time to train – with the event taking place on Saturday 22nd March 2025.

Speaking about this exciting challenge, Age UK H&W’s Fundraising Coordinator, Jodie Peek, said:

“It’s truly inspiring to witness so many local businesses and individuals showing their support through participation. This challenge will not only provide a significant opportunity to generate the crucial funding required to support the invaluable work of our charity, but it also gives individuals the chance to undertake a remarkable personal challenge, while combatting isolation and loneliness across all generations.

“What are you waiting for? Sign up today!”

By choosing to fundraise for this event and Age UK H&W, participants will be supporting the charity to deliver vital services across the two counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Money raised will be integral to funding activities and social clubs, which will help reduce the number of older people in the local area who feel isolated or disconnected.
