At just 12 years old, Lily Blackburn is already a force for change. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Autism at the age of 2, doctors once told her family that she may never walk independently. Today, Lily is not only walking, without the aid of her walking frame, but she’s also preparing to climb Mount Snowdon to raise vital funds for Haven House Children’s Hospice.
Over the years, Lily has completed a series of incredible fundraising walks, raising a staggering £63,000 to support seriously ill children and families cared for by Haven House. Now, she’s setting her sights even higher and could be well on her to hitting the £100,000 fundraising milestone by climbing the 1,085-metre peak this September coinciding with her 13th birthday.
Lily said:
“I’ve always been inspired to make a difference in the world. When I was 7, I walked 15km to raise money for Haven House – my local children’s hospice. It was tough, but I learned how powerful determination can be. Now, I want to push myself even further to help more children who need support – just like I once did.”
Haven House has supported hundreds of children with complex medical needs, offering care at home and in the hospice, therapies, and emotional support for families. Lily’s determination and kindness reflect the spirit of the Haven House community.
