Hywel Dda Health Charities launches pet competition to ‘collar’ the cuteness market

HYWEL Dda Health Charities has again this year launched its annual pet competition – a chance to help raise vital funds for the charity, but also to pay tribute to perfect pooches, fabulous felines or even gorgeous guinea pigs.

All people have to do is send in a photo of their pet, following the instructions in this link:

Pet-owners can enter as many times as they like in the categories of Cutest Dog, Cutest Cat and Cutest other Pet. And there are prizes for the winners!

All they have to do is donate £2 per entry, and then email a photo of their pet with its name, the category they are entering, and their details to

Entries opened on 1st June and close on 30th June 2021.

It is a Hywel Dda-wide competition, and NHS staff and members of the public are encouraged to enter with pictures of their pets.

The Hywel Dda Health Charities team will choose the final three in each category. The winners are then chosen through votes by the public.

Winners will be announced on 21st July. There is a first-place prize in each category, but all entrants will receive a certificate.

Last year, entries ranged from spaniels and terriers to cats, guinea pigs, ducklings and even pigs!

Hywel Dda Health Charities’ Fundraising Manager Tara Nickerson said:

“Each time people enter with pictures of their much-loved pets, they are helping us to raise funds to make a positive difference to the health, wellbeing and experience of NHS patients, service users and staff across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

“It is a chance for people to say thank you to the NHS and, at the same time, pay tribute to their pets, who we know have been such a support during the pandemic.

“We wish everyone taking part the best of luck!”
