HUMANIMAL Trust has launched Pics with Purpose, a new UK-wide photography awards initiative inviting people to capture authentic moments celebrating the connection between humans and animals, while raising funds for its One Medicine mission.
From companionship and care to play, work and coexistence, the competition aims to shine a light on the everyday moments that demonstrate how closely human and animal lives are intertwined.
Sarah Colbourne, Fundraising and Partnerships Manager at Humanimal Trust, said:
“Every day we see incredible examples of the bond between people and animals, often in the smallest moments. Pics with Purpose is an opportunity to celebrate those connections through photography while helping to create a future where medical progress benefits all species.”
Photographers of all ages are invited to submit original photographs featuring an animal of any species. Entries might show a dog running alongside its owner, a farmer interacting with their animals, wildlife thriving alongside people, or a quiet moment of trust between an animal and a healthcare professional.
There are three age categories – Under 13, 13–18 and Over 18 – with cash prizes available in each category. Winners will receive £100 for first place, £75 for second place and £50 for third place, along with a Humanimal Trust T-shirt and certificate.
The awards are generously sponsored by Brandler Galleries and participants are asked to make a £5 donation for each photograph submitted, with each donation supporting the charity’s One Medicine mission.
Humanimal Trust is the only organisation in the UK with the sole and specific purpose of progressing One Medicine. It drives collaboration between vets, doctors, researchers, nurses and allied professions so that all humans and animals benefit from sustainable and equal medical progress, but not at the expense of an animal’s life.
Sarah added:
“Every photograph tells a story. We hope Pics with Purpose will inspire people to pause, look more closely at the world around them and recognise the extraordinary relationships we share with animals.”
Participants can submit up to five photographs, with each photograph requiring its own £5 donation. Entrants are also invited to include a short backstory explaining the inspiration behind each image.
Entries close at 12:00 GMT on 21 September 2026, with winners announced on World Animal Day, 4 October 2026.
