BLACKPOOL Santa Dash returns as a live event this year to raise money for Brian House Children’s Hospice.
The popular family event was forced to go virtual, like many of the hospice’s events, last year during the pandemic, but organisers at Brian House are looking forward to turning the Prom into a sea of Santas on Sunday 5th December.
Dashers of all ages and abilities – even dogs – are invited to be part of the family fun event, which sets off from the Sandcastle Waterpark and turns around after a mile, near the Manchester Pub.
And every penny they raise in sponsorship will help Brian House to reach the most fragile children on the Fylde coast and their families.
Events Manager, Kirsty Miller, said:
“We are so excited to be able to plan our ever-popular Santa Dash event again. We know how much local families enjoy putting on their Santa suits and running, jogging or walking up the prom, and we can’t wait to see them.
“Last year we made our Santa Dash a virtual event and were thrilled to see people taking part in their own dash. Those incredible people helped to raise nearly £15,000.
“We absolutely rely on our community, which supports us by taking part in our events like Santa Dash, to be able to provide compassionate care and support to children and young people living with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.
“Santa Dash is very kindly sponsored by our friends at the Kentown Wizard Foundation, which means that every single penny raised by our dashers goes straight to helping these incredible children live full lives, however short.”
Care and support didn’t stop for local families who need Brian House – the only children’s hospice on the Fylde coast.
But as the pandemic took hold, the hospice’s care teams did more work in the community; visiting families at home when the risk was too high for them to leave.
Janet Miller, Sister at Brian House said:
“Our incredible care teams here at Brian House have been providing their exceptional support to local families in the community throughout Covid, to ensure local families still have the very best respite, palliative and end-of-life care they need for their child.
“We are so grateful to everyone who takes part in our fundraising events, like Santa Dash and raising money so that we can be there for every local child who needs us. We can’t wait to see you all dressed up and making a difference this December.”
