Hestia crowned Charity Today Awards’ Health & Social Care Award winners

CRISIS charity Hestia, a housing and support charity, is the first of our finalists to win one of this year’s ten Charity Today Award categories.

The charity scooped the Health & Social Care Award after succeeding in the first of our public votes. Hestia received 45.3% of the votes as they overcome stiff competition from both Martin House Children’s Hospice (35.2%) and the other finalist Harry’s HAT Charity, who received 19.6% of the votes.

For decades the national Charity Today Awards has awarded individuals and organisations around the UK who have demonstrated excellence within the charity and voluntary sector.

Speaking of this year’s revised format due to the coronavirus pandemic and of winners Hestia, Charity Today Executive Editor and Founder of the Charity Today Awards Lee Rayment, said:

“We are delighted with the impact the awards are having despite the implementation of a new format. The awards continue to generate significant interest and interaction for the respective causes, and I believe they could not have gone any better in the circumstances.

“Hestia and the team are very deserving winners of the award. The charity does great work, particularly with mental health. I should add that Martin House Children’s Hospice and Harry’s HAT charity were extremely worthy finalists. Congratulations to all involved.”

Elvio Correia, Area Manager for Hestia’s Mental Health Crisis Services, said:

“We’re so pleased to have won a Charity Today Award for the support we offer at our Recovery Cafe. The service, which provides support to people struggling with their mental health in South West London, has proven to be a crucial lifeline for many in the community, particularly during the pandemic. We’re proud to have the hard work of our staff and volunteers at the cafe recognised, especially when up against such strong competition!”
