The brother of British backpacker Amelia Bambridge has confirmed the tragic news that the body found was his beloved sister.
On the 23rd October, 21-year-old Amelia from Worthing in West Sussex was reported to have last been seen on the island of Koh Rong in Cambodia.
Now in a horrible turn of events, her brother Harry Bambridge confirmed the news the family had feared on Instagram.
He wrote: “I’ve just seen her and I can confirm it’s my little sister Amelia.
“I’m so sorry to all her friends and family, there’s nothing more I wanted then (sic) to bring her back alive and I really f****** tried.
“And I’m sorry to you, Amelia Bambridge, the round is on me when we meet again in heaven.”
Missing persons charity the Lucie Blackman Trust also reported it on their Twitter account as “tragic news”.
Such sad news. I taught her, she was a brilliant student and a lovely genuine person who made my early teaching career much easier. Thinking of her family today.

The UK Foreign Office is on the island with Cambodian authorities responsible for carrying out the identification and continue to support Miss Bambridge’s family.
