Heart of Kent Hospice appoints Interim Chief Executive

HEART of Kent Hospice’s Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Rachel Street as Interim Chief Executive effective from 10 May.

This follows the announcement that Chief Executive Sarah Pugh will be stepping down from her position after six years at the Hospice to become Chief Executive at Whizz-Kidz.

Rachel joined Heart of Kent Hospice in November 2018 as the Director of Finance. Prior to this, she spent several years at Bromley Healthcare, initially as an Assistant Director of Operations before becoming Deputy Finance Director. Rachel qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton and worked there for 13 years, spending the majority of her time in the Government and Infrastructure Advisory Team.

Rachel said:

“I’m delighted to be appointed Interim Chief Executive. Since joining the Hospice, I have been inspired by the commitment that is demonstrated daily by my colleagues, and I look forward to continuing working with such a dedicated team.

“Together, we can continue providing outstanding, compassionate care for those living with a terminal illness and support for their carers and families.”

The charity welcomes Rachel to her new role in what is set to be a busy year celebrating the Hospice’s 30th anniversary, along with welcoming Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade to the streets of Maidstone for nine weeks this summer from 19 June – 22 August.
