Hampshire’s hottest theatre talent joins Musicals from the Heart’s star-studded line-up

THE line-up for the hotly anticipated ‘Musicals from the Heart’ has been revealed – and it includes some of Hampshire’s most prestigious Broadway and West End stars.

The September 17th extravaganza, created in partnership with the leading cardiac charity Heartbeat and Southampton’s iconic Mayflower Theatre, will showcase some of the region’s most established talents.

Forming part of Heartbeat’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, the glittering event will welcome Hampshire-based stars Holly-Anne Hull (Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables), Lauren Byrne (Matilda, SIX, Beautiful – the Carole King Musical), Harry Chandler (Les Misérables), and James Hume (Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady, Tick Tick…Boom!).

Jacqueline Hughes, who played Elphaba in the Wicked UK and International Tour (ACT Productions), also joins the lineup. Adam Hoskins (Annie Get Your Gun, Dr Zhivago, Camelot) will serve as the Music Director and, in the evening, will be conducting players from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

The show will be produced and hosted by Broadway and West End legend Earl Carpenter, who is currently appearing as the Monsieur André in Phantom of the Opera in Italy alongside Ramin Karimloo as the Phantom.

BBC Radio Solent broadcaster, and a good friend of Earl’s, Louisa Hannan, will also co-host. No stranger to Mayflower Theatre’s stage herself, Louisa has previously appeared in Pantomime and most recently starred in Hairspray alongside astrologer Russell Grant.

Earl said:

“I have been bursting with excitement for this event – much to Lou’s amusement. Getting to celebrate such a truly brilliant charity with an equally brilliant bunch of talented artists is an incredible thought. I’m counting down the days until September.”

The unique collaboration between Heartbeat and Mayflower Theatre is set to raise vital awareness of the cardiac charity, which plays a major role in supporting over 10,000 patients a year.

The Headline Sponsor for the event is JMS Wealth Management, who will be joined by Gold Sponsor, renowned car dealership Peter Cooper Motor Group, Silver Sponsors Goadsby, one of the region’s leading estate agents, and Hobbs the Printers, based in Totton.

Other local organisations confirmed as media sponsors for the eagerly anticipated event include Dutton Gregory Solicitors, skip hire and waste management services TJ Transport, container hire and logistics company Storage on Site (SOS), backcloth and set hire company Scenery Solutions, and Hildon Water.

Michael Ockwell, Chief Executive and Creative Director of Mayflower Theatre said:

“Mayflower Theatre is proud to be supporting Heartbeat in delivering a feast of Musical Theatre entertainment to mark this milestone Birthday of such a well-loved and respected charity.

“We look forward to welcoming the region’s musical lovers through our doors for what is set to be a very special night.”

Mark Ind, Chief Executive of Heartbeat, said:

“For one night only, we have some of the musical theatre’s biggest stars gracing Mayflower Theatre’s stage – all in aid of Heartbeat. Musicals from the Heart is our spectacular, 30th anniversary celebration and will bring together the community in a way never seen before in Southampton. Tickets are selling fast, so don’t miss out on this incredible one-off event.”
