Good Things joins Post Office Plus as founding partner

GOOD Things Foundation has joined Post Office Plus as a founding partner of a new pilot initiative aimed at bringing trusted, face-to-face support back to UK high streets.

The digital inclusion charity will provide support through selected Post Office branches, helping people build confidence online, improve their digital skills and access essential services.

The initiative has been developed in response to growing demand for accessible, in-person guidance as more everyday services move online.

Post Office Plus will transform selected Post Office branches into multi-service community hubs, giving local people access to practical support in familiar and trusted settings.

Good Things Foundation said the partnership aligns with its mission to ensure everyone can participate fully in the digital world, particularly those who may lack confidence, experience information overload or face other barriers to getting online.

Support delivered through local communities

The charity said local partnerships will play a key role in delivering the programme.

Good Things Foundation operates the National Digital Inclusion Network, which brings together community organisations across the UK that provide digital skills support and help people gain access to devices and connectivity.

Through the Post Office Plus partnership, local organisations within the network will be able to combine their knowledge of community needs with the established presence of Post Office branches.

The charity said this approach would help ensure support is tailored to local residents rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

The initiative is sponsored by Amazon Web Services, which is supporting the delivery of face-to-face digital guidance through the pilot.

James Muscat Sharp, Director of Business Development & Partnerships at Good Things Foundation, said:

“Digital technology is vital for accessing essential services, yet for many, the barriers to getting online remain significant.

“By bringing our expert digital inclusion support into the heart of Post Office branches, we are meeting people where they are within their own communities.

“Sponsored by Amazon Web Services, this partnership offers a unique opportunity to provide the friendly, face-to-face guidance that helps people build the confidence they need to participate fully in today’s digital world.”

Good Things Foundation said the partnership could also help strengthen the role of Post Office branches as community hubs, while encouraging greater high street footfall and supporting local economies.

The charity added that the initiative forms part of its wider work to ensure people are not excluded as more services, information and everyday activities move online.
