96 golfers battled it out to raise more than £2,000 for Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group as part of the charity’s World Down Syndrome awareness fundraising activities.
Now in its fifth year, proceedings at the sell-out event were kicked off by keen golfer Joe Tranter (19), who has Down’s syndrome, at Vale Royal Abbey in Whitegate.
Winners of the event that was supported by pro-golfer Ben Derbyshire were team Fore Players – Malcolm Ross, Gary Neiles, Mike Bourke and Alan Hughes.
Organiser Suzy Woodmansey from Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group said:
“We are so fortunate that year in year out local golfers come together to support this event. All of the funds raised will be used to support people with Down’s syndrome and their families in Cheshire. We are a small charity and rely on fundraising to continue to deliver services to over 150 families in the county. I can’t thank Vale Royal Abbey and the golfers enough for making the event such a success.”
