Get into festive spirit and help those with sight loss at charity Christmas Coffee Morning

A Fife charity is inviting people to get into the festive spirit and support people with sight loss at its annual Christmas Coffee Morning – as it prepares to open its doors as a local ‘warm space’ this winter.

Seescape, formerly known as Fife Society for the Blind, is holding the event on Friday, December 1 to raise money and awareness about its work.

The event takes place in the charity’s Glenrothes hub on Newark Road at 10.30am. There will be festive stalls, teas, coffees and delicious cakes and snacks, as well as the chance to find out more about the charity.

Seescape helps those with sight loss live more independently and provides a range of services including rehabilitation, advice, and technology demonstrations. It also offers social opportunities to those with visual impairments across Fife, as well as community-based assessments, home visits, and drop-ins at its visual impairment hub in Glenrothes to give information on the latest support and technologies available.

This winter, Seescape’s hub will also be a local ‘warm space’ location – a Fife Council initiative to work with community groups to offer warm places for anyone struggling with the cost of living.

Lesley Carcary, chief executive of Seescape, said:

“Our festive coffee morning is one of the highlights of our year, and we are all looking forward to welcoming people to our hub to share our work and successes over the past year over a relaxed tea or coffee. We hope as many people as possible come along for a festive treat.

“We are also pleased to be a warm space in Fife. This can be particularly helpful for anyone struggling to keep their home warm or looking to spend time with others. It means we can open our doors to all the community, not just people with sight loss and we’ll have hot food and drinks for anyone popping in.”
