Generous support from the RNRMC for our Navy and Marines Veterans

ERSKINE has received an incredibly generous grant of £50,000 from The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and its supporting partner Greenwich Hospital.

This grant will support Erskine’s sector-leading care for Royal Navy and Royal Marines beneficiaries at The Erskine Home, Bishopton. This is the RNRMC’s largest ever individual grant to Erskine, and we are truly grateful for their significant regular support since 2011.

Our staff at The Erskine Home, Bishopton, continue to provide the best possible care to elderly Royal Navy and Royal Marines Veterans and spouses during the pandemic. We are pleased that our residents are enjoying more indoor visits and quality time with their loved ones as Scotland’s care home restrictions are gradually reduced. In addition, we are delivering our usual range of enhanced care services with PPE and social distancing in place. These beneficial services include physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, Sonas group sessions and Namaste dementia therapy.

As always, Erskine’s priority is to ensure our Veterans can enjoy the high quality of life that they all truly deserve. Our Home is gradually returning to the vibrant community that it always was before the pandemic – this is only possible thanks to our loyal, generous supporters like The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Greenwich Hospital.

Erskine’s Chief Executive, Ian Cumming said:

“Erskine is extremely proud to care for Scotland’s Royal Navy and Royal Marines Veterans. Although the past year has been challenging, our staff have continued to work exceptionally hard and with courage and compassion. Erskine’s excellence in care delivery has been more difficult but even more crucial during the pandemic, and we continue to take all possible measures to ensure resident and staff safety.

“We are delighted that our elderly Veterans can now spend more time with friends and family as Scotland comes out of lockdown, and we look forward to further developments over the coming months. Erskine would simply not be able to offer this level of support without our wonderful supporters. We are truly thankful to The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Greenwich Hospital for this exceptional grant and their support for Erskine’s brave Navy and Marines Veterans for over a decade.”

The RNRMC’s Director of Relationships and Funding, Mandy Lindley:

“Erskine have always provided the highest quality of care to veterans, and this has not changed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The RNRMC have worked with Erskine for many years to ensure that, even in the toughest of times, our Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans are well looked after and enjoy a high quality of life. This latest grant to Erskine reflects an ongoing commitment to our beneficiaries in their care.”

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity is the principal charity of the Royal Navy. The Charity exists to support sailors, marines and their families for life. Since 2007, the Charity has funded projects and facilities for serving personnel as well as distributing millions of pounds annually to charities supporting the children, families and Veterans of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
