GEMMA Collins has taken on a new role, donning a Christmas jumper and doling out warm welcomes as she became ‘Sales Assistant extraordinaire’ at Save the Children’s Christmas Pop-Up in Covent Garden.
The reality star brought festive and Essex sparkle to the shop floor on Henrietta Street as she joined the volunteers and store manager for the afternoon. From sorting out stock to cleaning shelves and manning the till, Gemma was on hand to serve customers and support the pop-up on Henrietta Street. Greeting all who visited, Gemma relayed the vital work the charity does to support children in the UK and across the globe to stay safe, healthy and learning.
With experience of owning a fashion boutique herself, Gemma took shoppers through the one-of-a-kind collection of festive knitwear donated by sustainable fashion brand, Beyond Retro, offering style advice and helping people pick out their vintage jumpers in time for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 12th December.
Gemma made sure to let shoppers know about the selection of beautiful homewares and gifts too, each adorned with artwork by children which the charity has worked with through its global programmes. Gemma ensured all visitors left with unique and bespoke Christmas gifts, made multiple purchases of her own during her shift, and spread the message that all proceeds help to fund Save the Children’s vital work.

There really is something for everyone here, from decorations to gifts to jumpers, and it’s all for such an important cause. All the money raised will go towards ensuring children here in the UK and across the world get the future they deserve, which is something I think we can all get behind. It’s been so fun to get back to my retail roots and spread some festive joy ahead of Christmas Jumper Day!”
The Save the Children Christmas Shop is in Covent Garden until December 15 at 28 Henrietta Street. Visitors will be able to shop for unique Christmas cards, decorations, and more, making it a one-stop shop for meaningful, one-of-a-kind gifts that give back. Customers can also pick out a vintage jumper for Christmas Jumper Day on 12th December. To date, Christmas Jumper Day has raised over £37m since launching in 2012.
Open daily from 10 AM to 7 PM (and 8 PM on weekends), 100% of the proceeds from the shop will help to fund Save the Children’s vital work, helping to create positive lasting change for children all over the world including here in the UK.
