THE Nottingham-based charity Forever Stars, which is dedicated to raising awareness of baby loss, stillbirth and infant loss, has already achieved a Personal Best for this year’s Robin Hood Half Marathon and Mini Marathon this month, with a record-breaking sixty runners signed up to take part, fundraise for and represent the charity.
This year’s Robin Hood Half Marathon 2026, one of Nottingham’s most iconic and loved sporting events, is on Sunday 27th September, with over 12,000 runners signed up to take part.
Starting and finishing at Victoria Embankment, the UKA Affiliated Half Marathon route showcases some of Nottingham’s most stunning landmarks, including Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall, and Trent Bridge.
For Forever Stars, an Official Charity Partner of the event, this year’s Robin Hood Half Marathon is even more special than any of the previous events.
The charity’s co-founder Richard Daniels explained:
“Historically, the Robin Hood Half Marathon has been an incredible fundraiser for Forever Stars. With a record-breaking and incredible sixty people running for the charity this year, we hope their strength, support, commitment and effort will help to boost fundraising for our Decade of Serenity campaign.
“This year marks ten years since the charity officially opened its first Serenity Suite at Nottingham’s QMC, which is why our 2026 fundraising campaign is ‘A Decade of Serenity’. It is focused on raising £50,000 to help fund a much-needed upgrade and refresh of this Suite, as well as the Serenity bereavement Suite at Nottingham City Hospital, which we opened in 2017. Since opening, the Suites have been used by a heart-breaking 2,600 families, for whom the facility has provided a place of peace and safety as they come to terms with their loss, and have a chance to spend uninterrupted precious moments with their baby.
“Forever Stars has asked each of our Robin Hood team runners to aim to raise £300 by taking part. Every pound they raise will make an enormous difference to families in and around Nottingham when they face the most unimaginable, heart-breaking loss, and navigate the hardest journey for the rest of their lives. My wife Michelle and I, the charity’s trustees, dozens of volunteers, and the hundreds of families we support who are part of our community, are so grateful to each and every runner taking part. Every mile matters.”
