Final chance for the folk of Yorkshire to take part in the Great North Run

The British Red Cross is urging Yorkshire runners to grab its last few places in the Great North Run before the 1 July deadline.

However, the Red Cross has a limited number of these highly sought-after places waiting for you – and all you need to do is sign up and pledge to raise sponsorship money.

The Great North Run takes place on Sunday 8 September 2019 and is the world’s biggest, most iconic and spectacular half marathon.

Over 50,000 runners – including the likes of Sir Mo Farah – will start the race, and will be cheered on by what seems like the entire population of the North East. It starts right in the centre of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, crosses the famous Tyne Bridge and finishes on the picturesque coast of South Shields.

Community Fundraiser for the Red Cross in Yorkshire, Lucy Gray, said:

“This is simply an amazing experience that every runner – of any level of ability – should try out at least once. I’ve never known an atmosphere like it. And you never know – you might even get on the telly!

“We need good Yorkshire people to run for the Red Cross so that we can run to every disaster that needs our help.”
