Fat Beehive achieves ISO 27001 certification – Information Security and Management

FAT Beehive, the UK’s leading digital agency for the third sector, with offices in London and Manchester, has achieved certification to the internationally recognised ISO 27001 standard, establishing it as one of the leaders in its field.

This independent assessment was conducted by the British Assessment Bureau, a leading UKAS Certification Body, and demonstrates Fat Beehive’s commitment to keeping data, client information, staff and premises secure.

Fat Beehive, a Corporate Friend of Charity Today’s #UKCharityWeek campaign, has now earned the right to display the coveted ISO 27001 logo with UKAS accreditation, to demonstrate its conformance to the standard. UKAS is the UK’s National Accreditation Body, responsible for determining, in the public interest, the technical competence and integrity of organisations. It offers the highest level of accreditation.

ISO 27001 is the internationally recognised Information Security Management Standard that proves an organisation’s commitment to the security of their customer, employee and shareholder information. With ISO 27001 in place, Fat Beehive can minimise risks to potential data security breaches and reduce errors and costs, while demonstrating credibility and trust.

Mark Watson, Fat Beehive’s Chief Executive said:

“We’re particularly pleased to have achieved ISO 27701 certification as it underlines our commitment to our customers and our focus on quality. Information Security is acutely important to the charity and not-for-profit sector as organisations who rely on the goodwill of supporters and donors. They rightly expect very high standards from their suppliers.”

ISO 27001 is a business management system that looks at all processes and procedures. It covers areas from Health and Safety and HR to risk management, transfer and treatment.

Fat Beehive has systematically examined information security risks, taking account of the threats, vulnerabilities, and impacts. They have designed and implemented a set of information security controls.

The benefits of ISO 27001 certification to Fat Beehive and their clients include:

  • External validation that they keep clients’ information secure;
  • Minimised risk of data security breaches;
  • Reputational protection;
  • Reduction of errors and associated costs;
  • Increased profitability through internal twice-yearly process reviews and avoidance of costs incurred through poor security;
  • Increased employee engagement with information security.

Fat Beehive’s mission is to support and amplify the work of organisations committed to social good by building them amazing websites and great digital products. Established in 1997 they have 21 years of experience helping charities engage digitally.
